Southside Bandits officially formed in 2014 after a long history of jam sessions and collaboration with Scranton, PA musicians Jamie Zaleski, Brian Green, and Andrew Spangenberg. The name came from an on-the-spot gig at a house party, and “Southside Bandits” instantly stuck with what soon became their loyal following.
The Bandits released their first independent studio album titled “Where We Going?” in late 2014 and had instant success playing in local venues and clubs in the Northeast, PA region. The debut album features catchy rock/blues influenced songs like “You Me Sun” and “Hold On” to powerful rock songs like “Where We Going?” and “Hear My Name.” The band followed with their second studio album just one year later with “Starting To Believe.”
The first album and local success allowed them to be nominated for “Best New Artist” in the 2015 Electric City Music Conference. The band has opened up for nationally touring Sublime Tribute band, Badfish for a rooftop show at The Marketplace at Steamtown, and also had a bus of their fans transported to a show to the popular NYC club, Arlene’s Grocery, in the summer of 2016.
The band is currently focusing on writing and recording new material for another studio album. The current lineup includes the three founding members Zaleski, Green, and Spangenberg and have recently added Cory Caruso on the drums. Caruso is originally from Pittsburgh , PA and has recently toured with Rusted Root.
